Clinical Studies on Effortil and Pressor Drugs

Abstract
The author observed the vasopressor effect of Effortil and Methoxamine HCi. (Mexan), and the effect on pulse rate and blood pressure in 200 surgeries under spinal anesthesia. Results are as follows:
1. Both Effortil and Mexan exhibited slight and moderate elevating action in blood pressure.
However, in all cases controlled by Effortil, the blood pressure returned to the preanesthetic level in 15 miniutes. Its elevating action was gradual and more stable, and thought to be an excellent pressor drug in controlling the hypotension caused by spinal anesthesia.
2. Effortil exerted slight and more mild influence on pulse rate than Mexan.
3. Prolongation of the duration of spinal anesthesia was available in both Effortil and Mexan.
